Mara Serengeti AirplaneYou can travel across our borders from the Serengeti to Maasai Mara and vice versa in just under 5 hours thanks to Safarilink and Coastal Aviation who have introduced scheduled air transfers on either side of the Isebenia border point near Lake Victoria. This reduces the full day road transportation that is mostly used by half and provides more value for a stay in these adjoining greatest wildlife sanctuaries.

Next time you fly to the Maasai Mara, Samburu, Tsavo or Diani, you will board your safari-flight from their new ultra modern lounge located at Phoenix House just after the main entrance of this top safari airport in Africa. Other amenities will include super-fast free wireless internet access and Monika’s Bistro coffee shop. This lounge has a capacity of upto 120 passengers making it the top passenger terminal at Wilson Airport.

The Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary in Olpejeta Conservancy is one of the best home for the endangered Chimp. Opened in 1993 thanks to an agreement between this conservancy, Kenya Wildlife Service and the Jane Goodall Institute, the facility was initially established to receive and provide lifelong refuge to orphaned and abused chimpanzees from West and Central Africa.

Sweetwaters Chimps

This sanctuary has continued to receive chimpanzees rescued from traumatic situations and today the number of these primates stands at 42. The key objective here is to nurse these chimps carefully back to health so that they can enjoy the rest of their days in the safety of a vast natural enclosure.

Make sure you include a stay at Serena Sweetwaters Tented Camp on you next safari to experience this amazing conservation undertaking.

Titus Naikuni

The CEO of Kenya Airways, Dr. Titus Naikuni, recently received the “Airline Business Award” at a ceremony in London, where outstanding contributions to the aviation industry by individuals were recognized. At the helm of Kenya Airways for over 10 years now, Dr. Naikuni’s achievements in transforming Kenya Airways into one of the leading African airlines despite the challenges carriers on the continent faced over the last decade, were singled out as he followed in the footsteps of past winners like Akbar Al Baker of Qatar Airways last year and Tim Clark of Emirates in 2011.

Singled out were Kenya Airways’ joining of Sky Team, the first airline in the Eastern African region to join a global alliance, and the fleet replacement and expansion program, which is still ongoing as the number of passenger aircraft has increased to now 41. Dr. Naikuni, while accepting the award, paid glowing tribute to his team at Kenya Airways as well as Kenya Airways’ customers.
